This is your opportunity to purchase that unique piece to enhance your home or cottage. The Allen Gallery, is adorn with crafts done from area residents (wood art, fabric, carvings and photography) and not to exclude our many local authors.  There is certainly something for everyone.

The Tweed and Area Historical Society began in 1988 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Bell owners of The Tweed News.  Over the years it was housed in many different Tweed locations, the basement of the municipal building, St. John’s United Church basement and finally the Houston House became its permanent location when it was purchased in 1994…In 2000 when the new addition was erected to the south side of the building which allowed the Historical Society a permanent meeting place.

Curator Evan Morton formed the Heritage Centre over 35 years ago, and he was arguably one of the most knowledgeable Tweedites when it came to the area’s history. You would often see Evan walking the streets and his pleasurable greeting to everyone he met. The first president was Joanne Courneyea, with secretary Jean Deshane , the first treasurer was Bud Price. At the time of official incorporation Evan Morton became Treasurer and Curator until his death August 3, 2023. Although Evan Morton is no longer with us, his memory and his incredible Legacy will follow us throughout their historical journey.
